Ruby's piece is a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Japanese Nerikomi technique, a method that's notoriously challenging to master. It has taken her years to refine and develop this distinctive style. This one-of-a-kind teabowl, handcrafted from porcelain and wild clay sourced from Ballarat and Buninyong, reflects the landscape of Wadawurrung Country, where she works and lives. The abstract, colourful forms in the piece beautifully capture Ruby's deep connection to her surroundings and her fascination with this intricate Japanese technique.
